Fairfield is a remarkable small town in southeast Iowa, blending the strength and simplicity of a Midwest farm community with the dynamism and silence of Maharishi University of Management—the center of a community of 2,000 people practicing the Transcendental Meditation program to create world peace. The university hosts large daily group meditations and offers a cutting-edge Sustainable Living program based on Vedic Agriculture. Maharishi Vedic City, located five miles north of Fairfield, features The Raj, a world-famous Ayurvedic health spa; an authentic Vedic Observatory; The Rukmapura Park Hotel, a comfortable country inn; and The Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention. There are more than 100 homes and offices in Fairfield and Maharishi Vedic City built according to the principles of Vastu Vidya, or Vedic Architecture. Morning Star Studio is located on Fairfield’s lovely town square, with a central park and gazebo, organic restaurants including French, Thai and Indian food, plus a variety of unique and holistic shops. There is always something fun and interesting to learn or do in Fairfield. Weekends are especially lively, with a wide range of music, dance and art events. Fairfield Nia Teachers
